This webinar is an introduction to the basics of the computer program copyright regulatory system in the European Union (EU). We will provide comparative perspectives on software protection, including:
The basic features of the EU software protection regulations
What is and is not actually protected
What limits are present in different legal systems
How the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) treats computer programs, and how that compares to other courts around the world

Guest Speaker: Matěj Myška
Matěj Myška is a senior assistant professor at the Institute of Law and Technology, Faculty of Law, Masaryk University and a visiting lecturer at the University of Göttingen (Germany). His professional focus is in ICT law and intellectual property, particularly digital copyright. He is the editor-in-chief of the first Czech law journal specialized in ICT law, the Review of Law and Technology (Revue pro právo a technologie), co-chair of the Special Interest Group Intellectual Property of the European Law Institute and general chair of the Czech Law and Information Technologies (České právo a informační technologie) conference. He also assists the Technology Transfer Office of the Masaryk University as a lawyer.

Pablo Iannello is the Chair of the Museo Social Law School, the director of the Law and tech Program at UADE, and a visiting professor at University of Dayton School of Law since 2013. He has also served as a visiting Fellow at the UNIDROIT Institute, in Rome throughout 2012. Professor Iannello's main areas of research include: Comparative Law, International Economic Law, IP, Law and Tech, Antitrust, Legal Theory and Law and Economics.
