Informationals are a passive way for residents to receive information!
RAs will utilize an informational poster to display educational information for their community. Informationals should:
Be made of butcher paper
Be at MOST 3 feet x 3 feet in size
Include a title and headers for sections of information
Display legible information (printed text is best)
Be displayed only in elevator lobbies or nooks of the RA’s floor/s (no corridors, but lounge areas and “living room” areas are okay)
Be put up using only blue tape
The Theme of Informational 1 is Resource Sharing. We have many campus and off-campus resources available to students that they may or may not know about. In this informational poster, you will highlight a few resources of your choice and share what services they provide.
Some ideas:
Identity-based Resource Centers on campus. Some highlighted information could include:
Their physical locations and operational times
A few upcoming events
Information about services they typically provide
Health-related centers, such as
CARE at SARC
SHS
CAPS (possibly an opportunity to highlight our TMC CAPS counselors)
Recreation. You can share what students have access, such as
Facilities/gyms
Rec classes offerings
Events
Basic Needs
Basic Needs have created an inspo board regarding basic needs that can be used for informationals!
Pre-Work
Decide a visual theme for the bulletin board
Research information that you are going to use for your Informational poster
Center websites
Instagram pages
Find a location on your floor/s (in elevator lobbies or nooks of the RA’s floor/s - no corridors, but lounge areas and “living room” areas are okay)
Talk to your ADRL about your idea
Check the RA workroom for materials and request additional supplies from your ADRL, if needed
Informational Creation
Print or handwrite (print suggested) text for your poster
Assemble informational
Put up informational with blue tape for the allotted amount of time required
Door Decorations
You are responsible for creating a door decoration (dec) for each of your residents. Your decorations should encompass an INCLUSIVE theme, foster a sense of community, and be aesthetically pleasing. Individual door decs will be placed in resident’s room doors.
The most efficient way to create door decs is by using a graphic design tool such as Canva. Creating a digital door dec makes it easy to replace door decs throughout the year in the event door decs are damaged, or you get new residents. If you choose to create hand made door decs please do not spend an unreasonable amount of time on them.
You will also need to create a door dec for hallway doors. Hallway door decks may NOT contain resident names, only the suite number.

Welcome Newsletters
You are responsible for creating a welcoming newsletter for your community of residents.
RAs will email newsletters to residents before move-in and have a printed copy in suite for Move-in. Newsletters can have the same theme as your door decs. Things to include in your newsletter.

You are responsible for posting a Marshall RA Bulletin Board by the first day of move-in. Be creative and focus on welcoming students. The design must be something that will last all year and be in line with the theme of your building. The entire area should be covered by paper, all cork on your board should be covered and not seen. You and your building partners should work together to complete this task. You should section off areas of your bulletin board for the following items:
a photo and brief introduction of who you are (think one fun fact, majors, etc.) Please do not put your living space on there to protect your privacy
