A reasonable accommodation is a modification or adjustment to a course, program, service, job, activity, or facility that enables a student with a disability to have an equal opportunity to enjoy the benefits, opportunities, and privileges that are available to all students with or without disabilities.
If you had any accommodations previously for your academic success, AFTER you complete Slug Orientation, complete the DRC Welcome Form and wait for an email to make a new student appointment to meet with a DRC Accommodations Specialist to discuss access needs. For more details, please follow the How to Affiliate with the DRC Guide.
Some common accommodations that students utilize the DRC for include; ESA support in halls, Service Animal registration, Allergen, clean air requirements, modifications for classroom learning that formerly were met due to an IEP, etc.
Register and request placement exam accommodations for any needed placement exams. Some departments require a placement exam before enrolling in their courses. If the student needs accommodations for those exams, contact the DRC and the department sponsoring the exam at least 7 business days in advance of the exam date.
Analytical Writing Placement Exam (AWPE)
DRC serves students with documented disabilities. Please submit disability documentation to the AIM portal at least five days before your appointment. See the documentation guidelines for documentation requirements. In situations where documentation will take time to obtain or is not complete, DRC may provide short term or provisional accommodations pending complete documentation.
