**We strongly advise that you add the Academic Calendar to your Google Calendar list**
Each college has an academic advising team that can provide support in transitioning to the university, understanding university requirements and policies, exploring academic interests, and supporting your academic success. To find the advising team for your college click here.
Program (major, minor, or "department") advisors provide support for major and minor programs. They can help you understand major requirements, prerequisites, and how to plan courses for your major, and can advise you on the major's qualification requirements (if any). They work closely with the faculty in your program, and can recommend both appropriate faculty mentors and educational opportunities within and related to your major. For information about how to meet with, or contact, your major advisor click here.
In addition to College and Major Advising, there are staff across the campus who do advising or academic advising-related work with specific student populations or specific student programs. You can set up an appointment through slug success.
Services for Transfer Re-Entry and Resilient Scholars (STARRS) provides culturally responsive support to transfer, re-entry, veteran students, as well as students who do not have traditional family support due to experiences in the foster care system, with homelessness, abuse, parents who have been incarcerated, or other factors impacting their family life.
The mission of Educational Opportunity Programs (EOP) is to provide various academic and personal support programs to first-generation to college, low-income students with diverse social and personal identities and from historically marginalized backgrounds, so that they may achieve their academic, professional, and personal goals and become active leaders in their communities.
Building on the legacy of the Civil Rights movement, EOP’s equity-minded staff team (students and professionals) advocate for and partner with each student and the larger campus community, from the first year and beyond graduation, to dismantle systemic barriers to their success, uncover the hidden curriculum, and cultivate a space where they can learn and belong at UC Santa Cruz.
The Office for African, Black, & Caribbean Student Success advocates for the holistic success of ABC students. Through assessment and cross-campus collaboration, ABCS2 secures campus-wide strategic initiatives and priorities by addressing equity gaps, climate issues, enrollment, retention, and graduation rates of ABC students at University of California Santa Cruz.
