Starting in late April, the team will host information sessions. We will share important updates for the program and answer any questions participants may have. You don't have to attend an information session to get the information. Most of what is being shared are available here on the Resource site. You can type it into the search bar, and it will pop up. Virtual information sessions will take place via Zoom. Please use the buttons provided to pre-register for one of the information sessions.
We will also post a recording of the First Info Session here for those who may not be able to make the live one.
Info Session 1: May 14, 2025 @ 6 pm PST (copy and paste the following into your browser https://ucsc.zoom.us/meeting/register/9zoKuAxHSV2IPmLQOZ9Zzg)
Info Session 2: June 11, 2025 @ 6 pm PST (copy and paste the following into your browser https://ucsc.zoom.us/meeting/register/PiC5z2xTSse2p3q6uULM7Q)
After each Information Session, we will post questions submitted by participants and their answers here. If you have any questions, not covered through our Resource site, please let us know on our contact us page.
Yes! Throughout the summer the mentors will keep in touch and make sure you have everything you need prior to joining us on campus. Also from Mid July-August there will be pre-program sessions offered by some campus partners to make sure you have the items that you need to get done out of the way before you even step foot on campus in September. Be prepared for a lot of interaction throughout the summer. We want you to feel how much we have your back right from the beginning!
That's different. Trans Inclusive Housing, Native American/Indigenous theme housing, R.PAATH, and ABC STARS (transfers only community) are what we call campus-wide themed living communities, meaning that you can live in them regardless of your college affiliation. Otherwise, all frosh would live at the College where they are affiliated in their first year. After your first year, students living on campus can apply to live anywhere on campus or off campus if they so choose. Incoming Transfers have an option to live in the Transfer Community or any of the Transfer hubs across campus. Check out Housing's Transfer page for more information.
Yes. If you're commuting to campus for the academic year, you can participate. We will work with parking to have a day pass for folks whose parking permits aren't activated yet, and you can always join us for the workshops and sessions and then return home for the evening. Most of our days will end around 5 pm if you choose not to join us for dinner in the dining halls. The cost for your meals is covered in your participation of the program, so why not join us and eat a free meal with some great people! Please indicate on your application that you will not live on campus in the fall so that we may adequately prepare for your full participation.
Campus Wide themed housing is an option on the housing application available at studenthousing.ucsc.edu . Once you have your UCSC CruzID and Gold Password, you will log into the housing portal and fill out your Academic Year 25-26 housing application. Within the housing application, there will be a page about themed housing and there is where you will express interest in the different themed living communities on campus. Student Success and Equity works with housing to select students to live in these communities and housing will take over room assignment coordination. If you have a friend that you want to live with, make sure they also apply for the themed housing community you're applying to. The Housing Office will only make offers to those who have applied through the housing portal.
We have limited space in the program and will have to prioritize folks who apply first. But if there's room still as we approach the deadline, we will extend the application. If you're not able to join us for the program at all due to other obligations, all of the offices that support this program are going to still be active and ready to engage with you during the academic year. Check out our Resources page and learn more about how to get connected with us when you get to campus.
