Guaranteed housing for available Fall 2025 university housing will be given to newly admitted Fall 2025 undergraduate students.
2025-26 New Frosh, New Transfers, and New Visiting Students: New students are eligible for a one-year housing guarantee if they indicate a preference for university housing when accepting their offer of admission and meet all housing application deadlines.
Fall admits: the guarantee includes all three quarters (Fall, Winter, and Spring) of the admitted year.
New Students: Accept the offer of admission to UC Santa Cruz by completing the Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) process at my.ucsc.edu. When prompted during the Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) process, indicate a preference for university housing. Once affiliated with a college, submit a housing application at studenthousing.ucsc.edu by the deadline issued by Student Housing Services [Mid May for new Frosh; Mid June for new transfer]. Priority status is voided if the application is canceled by the student, or if the student does not take the required steps to keep their application active. You can always apply after the housing deadlines listed, but please keep in mind that there is limited housing on campus. The longer you wait to apply, the higher the probability of being placed on a waitlist.
Apply for housing during the applicable housing application period. For disability-related housing accommodations, please review the Housing Office’s Disability Related Housing Accommodations for more information.
Note: Students who indicate a preference for off-campus housing during the SIR process will NOT receive a housing guarantee even if they later apply for university housing. A housing guarantee ensures a space in university housing; however, a particular community or specific room type is not guaranteed. Housing guarantees are not applicable to Family Student Housing as there is typically a waiting list.
