UC Santa Cruz GEOPATHS is an intiative focused on engaging students from traditionally underrespresented groups (UM) and supporting students' academic and professional development.

The UC Santa Cruz Earth science undergraduate program is one of the five largest in the nation. UC Santa Cruz is a nationally recognized Hispanic Serving Institue (HSI) and the proportion of UM students in the Earth science program is one of the highest across STEM majors on campus (36% in Fall 2018). Thus, UC Santa Cruz is poised to have a significant impact on the diversity and preparation of the national geoscience workforce.
