I suppose birds spend much (most?) of their time hunting or eating. I decided to gather in one place some of the more interesting captures of birds with their food.

Many of the photos on this page are a bit more "gruesome" but technically this one is eating. I thought I'd start out gently.

Oirignal caption:Aptly named, Acorn Woodpecker
Modifed per clarification from Linda Wener: "The acorn woodpecker is probably not eating the acorn at this time. I think the bird is actually hoarding acorns here. They stash acorns in dead snags during the fall and then return to eat the acorns in the winter. Acorn woodpeckers also eat sap and insects crawling around on the surface of trees or catch and eat insects in flight."
