Who is Greenpeace?
Greenpeace is an independent global campaigning network. The network comprises 26 independent national/regional organizations in over 55 countries across Europe, the Americas, Africa, Asia and the Pacific, as well as a co-ordinating body Greenpeace international, based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
Greenpeace's Mission
Greenpeace’s goal is to ensure the ability of Earth to nurture life in all its diversity.
Greenpeace stands for positive change through action to defend the natural world and promote peace. We investigate, expose and confront environmental abuse by governments and corporations around the world. We champion environmentally responsible and socially just solutions, including scientific and technological innovation.
Everett Fellow's
Josh is a fourth-year transfer student at UC Santa Cruz, majoring in Sociology with a concentration in Global Information and Social Enterprise Studies.
The Team
The Greenpeace team was comprised of three Everett students, the other two members are Ashley Hii, and Sam Garbus. Ashley and Sam have since graduated UC Santa Cruz and have started working on their professional careers.
What is Advocacy Through Digital Gamification?
The Challenge
Quizzes are often used by campaigns as an engagement tool, but there is currently no easy way for campaign staff to quickly create and publish engaging quizzes on Planet 4. A commonly requested feature by NROs is a quiz builder for campaign staff to easily make interactive quizzes.
The Quiz Feature
We planned and initiated the process of developing a quiz feature to enable staff members to create highly engaging quizzes for Greenpeace website visitors. These quizzes are intended to provide users with an entertaining, yet informative, experience that may motivate them to take direct action towards an environmental issue.
We used Figma to create wireframes, user flows/journeys, affinity maps, and to conduct heuristic evaluations to understand the needs of Greenpeace staff and the end users.
Project Deliverable
Our final project deliverable was creating a wireframe of the quiz feature to send off to the development team.
Using our newly developed UX/UI skills we created the wireframe using the data we collected through heuristic evaluations, and 1:1 interviews conducted with NRO stakeholders.
Project Takeaways
Over the course of the project I learned key information on the dynamics of large organizations.
