Singing

• Singing in harmony and devising own harmonies

• Singing in counterpoint and devising own counterpoints

• Building upon skills developed in Year 5

Foundation concepts

• Extending Year 5 grounding in major and minor scales and modes

• Identifying major, minor, augmented, diminished and 7th chords

• Identifying polyphonic and homophonic textures

• Identifying rhythmic patterns and transcribing them aurally

Music technology

Pupils are introduced to sound engineering apps such as GarageBand, through which they sequence their own multi-track pieces.  

Composition - Music for theatre

• Pupils devise the incidental score for their annual Year 6 drama production, considering mood, themes and textures, culminating in a major production in June at the Senior School's Lund Theatre.  They continue to score their composition using Flat software.

• Boys also have the opportunity to join the Music Technology club after school on Wednesdays, where they learn how to create pieces and sequence loops with GarageBand.
