Expectations of Band Members
Inclusion in any of the JB Rock Bands is a huge privilege, and one that our young musicians have taken very seriously in previous years. We trust that your son will continue this tradition and in turn become role models for the aspiring rock musicians in the younger year levels.
Your son may find that his fellow band members are not necessarily in his immediate circle of friends. This is a necessary part of his musical education, as in the world of music, musicians have to quickly become accustomed to working with unfamiliar people, whilst striving towards a common goal.
In that same spirit of bringing common musical goals to fruition, it is expected that boys will attend all scheduled rehearsals (unless they are absent from school) and commit to the usual JB expectations of behaviour. In the unlikely event that any boy shows a clear disregard for instructions, expectations, etc. Shelley will communicate such instances to Mr L-O'K and warnings will be given (and always communicated with parents, of course). Should a third incident occur, the band member will forfeit his inclusion in the band and the concert.
Over the many years that we have had the Summer Rock concerts, we have seen amazing levels of maturity from the boys, many wonderful new friendships develop and, above all, some terrific music from our incredible young musicians.
Many thanks,
Shelley Walker
