October is anti-bullying month. During this lesson, students reviewed what bullying is and isn't using the MOOO acronym. Often times students refer to all perceived negative behaviors as bullying and it is very important that they understand the difference between someone being mean and bullying. We read the Weird Series by Erin Frankel to become aware of the perspective differences in a bullying situation. The Weird Series are written from the perspective of the target of bullying, the bully, and the bystander. Students worked together in groups to identify the different roles in a bullying situation and how they can prevent bullying. It is important for students to understand that they can be a part of the solution to bullying at Marvin Elementary.
