Math Pathways

East Hartford Public Schools (7-12)

In order to modernize mathematical programming, East Hartford has created multiple pathways for students to achieve their graduation requirements without only leading toward calculus. They can now take classes like Financial Algebra that teach them concepts like completing their taxes, and how to complete W2 and W4 forms. They can also take classes like Statistics 2 which discusses different social justice topics while having students discuss the measure of statistics related to the issues at hand. This promotes more discussion and exploration of how we can change these topics for the better and potentially opens up more career opportunities for students to see.
