About the Organizations and People

The Equity in Mathematics Education: A Position Statement for Connecticut was collaboratively authored by leaders of AMTEC, ATOMIC, CCLM, and CSDE, the state's professional organizations in mathematics education. Advancing equity in mathematics education requires ongoing attention and deliberate actions, which is why we would love to hear what your school is doing to pursue more equitable outcomes for your students. One of our goals is to build capacity across Connecticut. Towards this end, please consider completing the Google Form (see tab on left) to submit information about the work that you are doing at your school to advance equity.

If you are interested in learning more about our organizations, feel free to click on any of our organizations' names, whcih will take you to each organizations' websiste. From there you explore more about who we are, the opportunities we offer, and how to get involved.

Acknowledgments

We would like to thank the numerous anonymous educators who reviewed and provided thoughtful feedback on earlier drafts of this document. We also would like to acknowledge the previous work of others advancing position statements for mathematics education. This statement is intended to complement the Connecticut State Board of Education’s Position Statement on Math Education (2009), and build on that work by promoting an explicit focus on equity and identifying areas for advancing positive change.

Lead authors on the Position Statement were Jillian Cavanna, Jeffrey Corbishley, John Keogh, Christie Madancy, Jennifer Michalek, Maria Mitchell, and Megan Staples.
