FAQs

What is Game Developer's Week?

Game Developer's Week is an annual, week-long event we host every Winter Quarter, where we invite professionals from the game industry to share their experiences working professionally in game development and in the game industry.

We have at least 2 guest speakers per day during the event, and their talks usually last for around an hour.

What kinds of professionals, from which industries, have you invited over as guest speakers?

We've had people from companies like Blizzard Entertainment, Riot Games, Blind Squirrel Games, Turtle Rock Studios, Mobilityware, and Cloud Imperium Games give talks to our student body.

In particular, we've invited professionals like Nima Fakhrara (Composer for Detroit: Become Human), Patrick Traynor (Indie Developer and owner of Patrick's Parabox), and Collin Gilbert (Level Designer for World of Warcraft and Diablo III) to come give talks in the past.

We've also had VGDC/UCI alumni, now working in different game industries, come give talks about their experiences working in their professions. Claudia Rose O' Flaherty (Associate Producer, Character Art and Tech at Cloud Imperium Games), Jo Graylock (Design Lead at Riot Games), and Ittai Mann (Software Engineer at Blind Squirrel Games) are all VGDC/UCI alumni we invited in the past as speakers.
