UCI coursework and assignments are the same as other candidates in the program with additional meetings with the Bilingual Coordinator to support your growth in teaching at Dual Immersion settings. You will be able to use your bilingual skills to support students who are learning in two languages.

Our Bilingual Coordinator, Susan Guilfoyle (sguilfoy@uci.edu), works with our bilingual candidates to secure their school placements. In order to be eligible for a placement in a Spanish Dual Immersion classroom, you will be assessed on your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. If you are a Mandarin speaker, you will be assessed by one of our Mentor Teachers.
