In the pursuit of trying to figure out what justice is, it came to the point where my question changed, although in the start I did say I would try to answer what justice is in the Death Note universe, I have decided to fully shift my question in the direction of what makes certain ideologies of justice more appealing than others. This is mainly thanks to all of the in-class activities we have been doing and the one that really made me change my thesis was the timed writing activities in class. When did the first one I just wrote whatever came to mind and I didn't really pay much attention to it until after class when I started to read what I wrote and I noticed a lot of my writing questioned why so many people within the anime followed Light and his ideas, even though he was portrayed as an enemy.

In the case of Death Note, there are two main ideas for what is justice, and typically within the anime community, most agree or like the idea of light thoughts. Although everyone acknowledges that either ideology from Light or L is not the best, most agree that Light might have been on to something. His idea is embedded with ideas of nihilism and is very pessimistic, due to his upbringing as the son of a cop, constantly surrounded by the crimes of the world and also developing a strong sense of justiceĀ

So with the help of this, I changed my question around why we tend to agree with him or fantasize about having self-justice. Luckily for me, this change didn't require me to change my secondary sources and it actually made it easier to use the current sources I have and to mind others. I would go as far as to say that my original idea was more difficult to work with and what I have now is way better since it is more about our own feelings regarding our justice system. At this point in time, my research goals seem clearer and more attainable and I have narrowed it down to a more specific area instead of being too broad, I am very happy I figured this out before getting more deeper into my paper.
