I like doing a combination of visual and literary analysis so I decided to go through a few museum websites to see if they had anything that caught my eyes. I wanted to do a painting that is connected to the few lectures that we had on China; maybe something to do with the Monkey King or on the belief systems that were prevalent in China back then.
In the Fall and Winter Quarter, we talked about worldbuilding that is happening through the thoughts and actions humans have and do. What we think and what we do affect the world that we are currently living in and what kind of world we will live in as well as future generations. The lectures on China interested me the most since a lot of the thought systems and culture surrounding China is very present in the way my mom raised my siblings and I.
I don't really know where to look for scholarly secondary sources; it's really only based on the questions that I draw and search up.
Hopefully when we start to actually choose which primary source we want to do, and start analyzing it- I can begin to ask questions about it that can lead me to searching things up and finding scholarly papers.
It's been difficult to find and center on one primary source- there's been too many primary sources that have caught my attention and interest. But, so far I've been able to narrow down the sources I would like to do to 3 or 4; most of them are in the form of scrolls that were handpainted between the 11th century to 16th century.
