Archaeology @ UCI
Archaeology does not only happen at the site with a trowel in hand. While students at UCI do get their hands dirty conducting surveys and excavations here on campus, they also participate in various active research projects that include lab instruction, archival research, and more. What we offer is not a standard "field school" experience, rather a holistic approach to the practice of archaeology.

LAND RECOGNITION:
The "I Dig UCI" project recognizes that The UC Irvine campus occupies part of the ancestral and unceded lands of the Acjachemen, Juaneño, Tongva, and other Peoples of Turtle Island. The land was appropriated from their ancestors through acts of settler colonialism and violence. I dig UCI is committed to making the campus a place of Native American Thriving through its efforts to shed light on the occupation of this territory. Read more about land acknowledgements at UCI
