About the Researcher

Jacob Yu

Jacob Yu is an undergraduate student at the University of California, Davis, and is currently pursuing a degree in cognitive science, with an interest in medical research. Jacob grew up in Pleasanton, California, and first became interested in the medical field when he was in middle school. This interest was sparked when he participated in an oral immunotherapy trial to overcome numerous allergies. Jacob is interested in helping people with common conditions to overcome their ailments and hopes to do research to assist those with similar experiences to his own.


During his time in high school, Jacob learned how to compose research papers with concrete ideas and wrote an unofficial secondary research paper about how socioeconomic status affects the quality of health care that patients receive. He also took classes like anatomy and Advanced Placement Biology to gain more experience with complex material. Jacob has practiced important medical techniques such as suturing and intubation within medical camps. In addition to this medical knowledge, he is also CPR certified.


Jacob currently holds a high school diploma from Amador Valley High School.
