A key figure in the establishment of the printmaking graduate program at the University of Alberta, Lyndal Osborne’s art transverses printmaking, sculpture, and installation.

Osborne’s work has long explored issues of ecological systems, land use, and more recently, the crisis in the global oceans. She often uses and transforms found and recycled materials to comment on pressing issues related to the environment.

Osborne earned her MFA from the University of Wisconsin in Madison in 1971 and began her career at the University of Alberta shortly after graduating. Her work is represented in numerous private and public collections, including the National Gallery of Canada and the Art Gallery of Alberta. She is now a professor emerita in the Department of Art and Design at the University of Alberta.
