After obtaining an MFA from the University of Alberta in 1995, printmaker Sean Caulfield taught at the University of Illinois before returning to Alberta to take up the Canada Research Chair Tier II (Professor) in printmaking at the University of Alberta.

Caulfield’s printmaking practice is grounded between the intersections of environmentalism, science, and biology. Heaven of the Sun represents a visual reflection on the cosmos and its impact on life on earth.

A recipient of numerous grants and accolades, Caulfield’s recent work includes a collaboration with his brother, Timothy Caulfield, professor in the Faculty of Law and the School of Public Health on a project that seeks to debunk pseudoscience claims on social media called Coronavirus Outbreak: Mapping and Countering Misinformation.
