Value: Two awards valued up to $950 or one award of $1,900.00
Deadline: February 15, 2025
Eligibility: Awarded annually to a student in a graduate degree program in the Faculty of Education who has been accepted to present their research at a conference no later than January, 2026. Applicants should be actively engaged in the research and writing phase of their program. Preference will be given to students who are participants at the Centre for Research for Teacher Education and Development (CRTED). Additional preference will be given to students whose area of concentration is related to Indigenous Education. Prior to or following the conference, the recipient will give a presentation at the CRTED. As funding is available only once during a student’s program, the conference should significantly contribute to the student’s research program.
*Note: This award is open to graduate students whose research is focused on Indigenous studies in education and may not have had a chance to participate in the Centre directly as a result of disruptions to programming due to Covid, or the transition of the Centre.
The application package should include:
● A copy of the presentation proposal, along with notification of acceptance and information about the conference.
● A brief description (100 words) of ways the presentation and participation at the conference will benefit the applicant’s program of research.
● A one-page letter of support from the applicant’s supervisor.
● A sample budget that shows the full cost of travel to (&/or participation in) the conference, as well as information on additional sources of funding and/or decisions made to ensure the entire conference costs are covered (i.e., sharing accommodation, ground transportation, development of proposal/presentation:editors, translation, scribe, etc.).
Adjudication will be conducted as an anonymized review. Those who are successful for the award will be informed via email. Award-holders will have the opportunity to share their work through the CRTED.
Please submit the application electronically as one document to Dr. Farha Shariff at edidedu@ualberta.ca
