The Indigenous teaching and learning gardens were located at the Faculty of Education at the University of Alberta. They were a site for learning from the Land and engaging with Indigenous perspectives in the teaching and learning of K-12 subject matter, with a specific focus on mathematics and the sciences.
In partnership with the Faculties of Engineering and Science at the University of Alberta, this one-day virtual workshop had teachers build their own small hydroponics systems. Talks by scientists and engineers working in this field helped teachers to understand the science, its applications, and allowed for an exploration of the use of these systems for multi-disciplinary classroom inquiry.
