Overview

The international curriculum will be implemented in a networked semester internationally as a collaboration between the three universities (Skopje, Vienna and Reggio Calabria). Its outcome will create a collective synthesis of individual concepts for a sustainable city in the form of project proposals for the city of Prilep, articulated in a hypothetical strategic plan in the form of a publication.

As a forerunner, the international consortium conducted a variety of research activities and analyzed good practices with recommendations for curriculum development in order to develop the best possible methodology implemented in this international networked syllabus.

The recommendations set out the tools for the joint curriculum, tools that highlight the unique moments of overlap between different expertise and different scale of observation specific for each of the partner institutions.

This approach is both specific and universal. It is contextual, as it builds on the specifics of a particular context, but also universal, as it promotes its applicable flexibility that can be tested in other different circumstances with similar but also different characteristics from the Prilep case.

The networked international curriculum creates it promotes substantial innovation in the implementation process at the moment when it complements current curricula. The introduction of this network concept represented by the academic environment (international universities), practice experts (private scientific institutes) and administration (represented by local stakeholders / partners) is the main innovative aspect that transforms theoretical models and concepts into concrete steps and activities which will provide basic strategic directions for the city of Prilep and will provide a forecast for the future steps of its development.
