According to Diamond, how do schools promote "white supremacy"? What is "opportunity hoarding"? Why do you think Diamond argues that it is important to view race as a "social construct"? What implications does "critical race theory" have for teachers' instructional practices? According to Persell and Cookson, how do "elite" high schools reproduce existing social structures? How do today's two readings relate to each other? How do today's readings relate to Delpit's notion of the "culture of power"? How do today's readings and/or prior class' readings suggest schools can disrupt existing social structure rather than reify them? 

We will complete the mid-course survey.

We will pick our topics for the final paper / project. (A draft is due for peer feedback on Monday, November 13. The final paper / project is due Monday, December 11.)
