As an aspiring Instructional Designer and Human Performance Improvement practitioner, understanding adult learning theory provides me with a foundational understanding of how people learn and how I can design effective instruction. This foundation also provides me with insights into the cognitive, social, and emotional processes that underlie adult learning and can guide my development of instructional design materials.
Additionally, these tools help me develop more targeted and effective interventions geared toward improving individual and organizational performance as a Human Performance Improvement professional. This aids in evaluating and improving past, present, and future processes, which is imperative for creating well-designed interventions that will generate an increase in long-term performance results and an increase in ROI for the organization.
By utilizing these concepts, I have established a framework as a practitioner who can make informed decisions about learning strategies, instructional design, and performance practices.
