Jeanetta Asbury, MET Student at BSU
I’m an Idaho native who has taught in the Treasure Valley for over 25 years. I’m passionate about learning, teaching, and coaching others. I've enjoyed teaching in both traditional and blended learning environments as well as serving as an Elementary Director. Some of my favorite subjects to teach are music, language arts, and math. Most of my teaching experience has been working with middle-school students. I really enjoy this age group! It’s fun to share witty jokes and to cultivate a deeper understanding of concepts. Additionally, the middle school years are such tender time for students. Teachers can really make a difference by helping them to build a growth mindset.
Growing up here in Idaho has been an adventure. I love the mountains, especially the forest. Many of my weekends are spent with my husband of over thirty years hiking, fishing, paddle boarding, or just hanging out with the trees! Family life is very important to me and spending time in the mountains has been a wonderful way to bring us together. We've raised three fantastic children. Two of them are grown and living on their own, and my youngest just started college.
This year, I am particularly excited to pursue a new adventure. I have decided to take a year off to attend BSU full time in pursuit of my masters (in ED TECH). I’ve always been a technology nerd, and having the opportunity to focus on learning new ways to integrate technology and to coach will be a terrific treat!
I’m looking forward to this journey! I will be recording my learning experiences throughout the course.
