For this project, there are no specific parts that are necessary to replace. The hinges we used were 4x2 inches- these are not visible, so any hinge that suits your needs should work. Other than that, the parts of this project are plywood and 2x2s, so the replacement is a rather simple fix.

There are not many safety hazards to this project. It should be noted that the bottom step lid does not stay up on its own, so watch out for that to prevent squished fingers. Due to the thin plywood, the possibility of splinters is present. This is minimal, as we routed edges and sanded many pieces of plywood.
