For the final product, the device will be made out of plywood, 2x2’s, and 2x4’s. We will use screws to fasten the wood together and carpet glue to adhere the carpet to the wood. Underneath the main platform, there will be framework to ensure the device’s structural integrity and to keep the plywood from bending with the dogs’ weight. This framework will consist of 2x2’s and a 2x4 in the configuration of a cross. The bottom step will be hinged, acting as a lid for the extra storage compartment underneath. A router will be used on the edges and corners to minimize snagging hazards after it is built. Wood stain will be used on the back of the device, the largest side panel, the compartment’s front-facing panel, and the inside of the device. All other panels will be covered in carpet.
