Teacher Annie (Grades 5-6)
Teacher Annie has been an incredibly supportive and dependable partner in all aspects of my professional journey. She consistently ensures that my voice is acknowledged and my perspectives are considered, especially when it comes to planning the teaching and learning process. Whether it's my ideas, strategies, or proposed innovations, she embraces them with genuine encouragement and collaboration. She not only believes in my professional capabilities but also stands by me during personal challenges, offering a helping hand without hesitation. Her support beyond the confines of our classroom—our partnership thrives both inside and outside its four walls. The bond we've built is grounded in mutual respect, trust, and a shared commitment to growth, making her not just a colleague, but a true ally and friend.
Teacher Kate (Grades 5-6)
Teacher Kate is an exceptionally organized and reliable colleague. She consistently ensures that everything runs smoothly and that every detail is in place, creating a structured and efficient environment for both teaching and learning. Working with her is a collaborative experience—together, we explore the use of technology and creative teaching strategies to make our lessons more engaging and effective. She has a passion for designing challenging yet enjoyable tasks that encourage students to learn English in a fun and dynamic way.
What I truly appreciate is her respect for my teaching style. During my classes, she takes charge of maintaining classroom discipline, allowing me the freedom to focus on delivering my lessons with confidence and creativity. She is always ready to assist, whether it's keeping track of scores during classroom games or checking students' outputs. Her support makes the process seamless and enjoyable.
In conclusion, working alongside Teacher Kate makes everything more manageable and rewarding. Her dedication, structure, and collaborative spirit transform our classroom into a well-coordinated and inspiring space where teaching and learning truly thrive.
Classroom Demonstration Teaching
My teaching demonstration began with a brief introduction about myself, setting the tone with a personal touch. I titled it "Lost in Translation" , a phrase that encapsulated the essence of my experiences during the past three months in Taiwan. Through this title, I aimed to convey not just the language barriers I faced, but also the cultural adjustments, emotional challenges, and moments of growth that came with pursuing my dream in a foreign land.
I openly shared the difficulties I encountered—navigating a new environment, adapting to different teaching styles, and overcoming the feeling of being out of place. Alongside these challenges, I highlighted the valuable lessons I've learned: resilience, adaptability, and the importance of keeping an open mind. These experiences have shaped me both as an individual and as an educator, and I wanted my students to see that growth often comes through discomfort. It was my way of connecting with them on a deeper level and showing that learning happens not just in the classroom, but in life's everyday moments.
This was my self-introduction during the class demonstration, where I aimed to share not just who I am, but the journey that brought me here.
Here is Director Jang recounting our first meeting at the airport, as well as our initial introductions with the school principal and the Parents' Association. She also shared the various forms of support and assistance they have generously provided me over the past three months.
