Day 1 (July 7, 2025): Palarong Lahi (Filipino games)
Day 1 (July 7, 2025): Palarong Lahi (Filipino games)
This is the video I created to introduce the students to their journey to the Philippines. Inspired by a Philippine Airlines script and a Department of Tourism video, it gave the students a glimpse of this year’s summer camp theme.
Here’s the Canva presentation I prepared for Day 1.
During the first part of the camp, students danced to a popular nursery song from the Philippines called “Bubuka ang Bulaklak.”

Next, the students played a game called “Phil the Puzzle.”
Welcoming Greetings from Principal Yang

Principal Yang led the welcoming activity, helping the students assemble a puzzle of the Philippine flag. Afterwards, everyone shouted, “Mabuhay!”
Time to know their teams!
Using WordWall, the campers selected their teams. The teams were divided into four: Camp Matatag, Camp Mabuti, Camp Salamat, and Camp Padayon. The students got familiar with their team members as they prepared for the first graded challenge, called “Where You At?”
In this game, students wore blindfolds. To find and join their group, they had to shout their team’s name. The leader of each group then counted the number of members. Once the group was complete, everyone shouted, “Mabuhay!”
Time to introduce themselves.
Using AI-generated pictures, I transformed the students into Filipino characters. They wore traditional Filipino clothes and costumes representing Filipino figures. The students had to guess who was in the picture and then introduce themselves in English in front of the class.
On Day 1, I discussed popular aspects of the Philippines. I showed videos featuring the country’s popular foods, tourist attractions, and history.

I presented the students’ scores from Challenge #1 and Challenge #2.
For Challenge #3, the students played the popular Filipino game Tumbang Preso.
The final task for Day 1 was to create an eBook using the StoryJumper website. This task serves as the students’ final output for the four-day camp. They needed to create a book that showcased the activities and experiences they had each day.
