Primary/Preschool Programs
June 17 - July 26, 2019
From birth to age 5, a child's brain develops more than at any other time in life. Preschoolers’ brains definitely do not “hit pause” during the summer months! As such, we offer summer-long opportunities for your preschooler to continue to explore his or her world in a nurturing and stimulating environment, under the guidance of full-time teachers who are experts in early childhood development.
New primary students: Intro-Duck-Tion
Two 2-Week Sessions:
- June 17 - June 28
- July 1 - 12
For our new preschool students, our Summer Camps serve as a bridge to the regular school year. Intro-DUCK-Tion is structured similarly to our Primary Division classes that feature Montessori material. New students are introduced to the school experience in a developmentally appropriate way.
Students must be toilet trained prior to the start of camp.
In order to provide a comfortable transition into Summer Camp, all new Primary students will “Phase-In” on their first day of camp. The “Phase-In” process allows for our youngest students to grow accustomed to their school surroundings by visiting their classrooms for a short time before staying for a regular day.
For the remainder of the camp days, some students are ready to stay until 3:00 pm while others will spend a half day. This decision will be made by each family and the school together. Those students who stay with us for a full day will take a nap in the afternoon, have recess, and work on projects in our Imagination and Play camp.
In Imagination and Play, our youngest Turning Point friends have the opportunity to explore our Montessori-based materials in the classroom and on the playground. Our staff encourage students to explore relationships and the work we do at Turning Point in a healthy and developmentally appropriate manner. All students are offered a nap or quiet time every day along with a healthy snack.
After the completion of Intro-DUCK-Tion, students have the opportunity to enroll in the remaining DUCK Summer Camp sessions offered to all Primary students. They can enroll in Week 5 and Week 6 of DUCK Camp, and may also enroll in the Back-to-School Camp from August 12-16. During these sessions we integrate our new and returning Primary friends while offering an enriching and safe environment for our students to learn, grow, strengthen existing friendships, and make new ones. As always, we employ only our full-time faculty as counselors.
