Students, parents, or guardians may present complaints concerning the MYP following the procedures detailed below.
An individual or group with a complaint or concern should first send an email to the teacher and coordinator expressing their concerns within ten business days of the of the grade/score, event, or action that is the subject of the complaint. The teacher and/or coordinator will respond within 5 business days.
If the complaint is not resolved to the complainant’s satisfaction at this initial level, the complainant and parent or legal guardian may request a conference with the teacher, MYP coordinator, and a school administrator. The request must be made within 5 days following the response from the teacher or MYP coordinator.
Prior to this conference, the complainant will submit a signed written complaint explaining the issue in detail and also explain their concern or complaint with the solution or response from the teacher or MYP coordinator. The complainant should also submit any pertinent documentation or evidence of support. Administration, teacher, and the MYP coordinator will review the complaint and collaborate to submit a final decision in writing.
If the student’s parent or guardian is unsatisfied with the decision, they may then follow the procedures for complaints outlined by the school district, policy 1302-R.
