On Monday students will receive a packet with vocabulary, math practice, spelling practice, reading comprehension, and an extra credit reading log. This packet is due on Thursday. They will not have homework over the weekend, unless they are completing corrections. My homework is designed to help students build study skills and practice material for class. 

If a student comes to school with incomplete homework, they will fill out a late work slip and choose one of three consequences. 

1. Use one of their 3 late work passes (These are worth class money bonuses if students still have them at the end of the quarter.) 

2. Spend first recess completing the assignment. They may go play when it is finished.

3. Owe second recess until the homework is turned in.

Spelling

Write each spelling word three times.

Reading

Students will read a short passage and answer comprehension questions. 

They will also have an accelerated reader (AR) goal each nine weeks. I will provide 15 to 20 minutes every day for students to read independently, but they may need to read outside of school to achieve their personal AR goal. Each homework packet will have a reading log that students may fill out for a $10 (per entry) class money bonus. Parent signature is required on the reading log to earn the bonus.
