Assignment Books
This year your child will use an assignment book to encourage organization, study habits, and communication! There's room in the back for special pictures & password storage along with pages of information! Look for the assignment book each evening and initial in the "PI" (parent initial) space & share any notes that you'd like for me to see. Feel free to also write any notes & schedule that you'd like for your child to remember.

Students will begin to bring home a journal of their choice each week for writing practice and to build stamina. They'll read writings from others and then add a page of their own. In October students will begin to write in their own journal to a prompt. Each Monday a new assignment and a new time goal will be assigned. Students will return journals the following Monday for a quick check and new assignment.

For the month of April, and to support our Poetry unit, we will focus on fluency and expressive voice. Each Monday students will bring home a new poem and report card. The assignment for the week is to practice and perform the piece for an audience and receive some feedback and a grade for each practice. On Fridays students will read for Mrs. Tilley for the final, graded, assessment.
