Dual Enrollment: College Classes during High School
Los Rios Community College District (American River, Sac City, Folsom Lake & Cosumnes River), has implemented changes to the process for high school students to take college classes.
All students will be referred to as "Dual Enrollment" students. The term "Advanced Education" will no longer be used as a title for high school students in college classes.
Please read the community college "Dual Enrollment" website below carefully for changes:
The Dual Enrollment form has changed. It is now called "Special Admit Form". It can be found below but also on the Dual Enrollment page for each Los Rios community college.
Students upload their own documents after obtaining counselor's signature.
Eligibility
The student has started the 9th grade or will be at least 14 years old by the first day of instruction (visit the Academic Calendar to find the first day of the full term).
The course the student wants to take is not available at their high school (applies to the summer term only).
The student is prepared for advanced study as recommended by the high school principal or their designee.
If a high school student, then the student has parental consent to be admitted and enroll at the college.
Note: Your high school may have a College and Career Access Pathways (CCAP) agreement with the Los Rios Community College District that establishes pathways of courses that meet specific goals. Students participating in CCAP Dual Enrollment programming are required to submit the Special Admit Form described on this page.
Courses may be taken outside of the school day during the school year in the Fall or Spring semester. Students may choose online courses or attend courses on campus.
