Is your child smart and motivated to learn but his lack of organizational skills prevent him from getting good grades?
Many middle school students have this problem. They are poorly organized and this hinders their study efforts.
Middle schoolers must learn that organization is essential for success in school and in life!
Ask your children questions - How was your day at school? What was an interesting question you asked in a class today? Tell me something that happened today in lunch or in a class? Tell me about your friends? What was one thing you learned today that you didn't know before?
Help your child to organize his/her assignments, notebooks, books and time.
The following are some suggestions to help your child:
*Organize a place to study
*Eliminate all distractions
*Schedule a specific time for study
*Create a system for handling school papers
*Keep a file for each of your classes at home. Put old papers, tests, notes, homework from each class in this file and use these papers to review for a test
*Encourage your child to write all assignments in the agenda pad. Together check them
*Break down assignments into manageable bites
*Do a 5 minute book bag/backpack cleanup right before you start your homework. Get your book bag/backpack ready for the next day before bed
And don't forget - middle schoolers need more sleep to do better in school!
