Step 1: Complete the Professional Development Request
Step 2: Have you principal approve it.
Step 3: Send the request in to Angela Martin in Central Office
Step 4: Register for the course.
Step 5: Attend the course
Step 6: Send a copy of your attendance certificate or grade report to Angela Martin.
What follows is clarification of Article 12 of the Negotiated Agreement of July 2018 - 2020
All professional learning requests will be submitted using the paper requisition form above. They will be approved by the building principal and then sent directly to Angela Martin the business office. The only exceptions to this procedure will be for TRSU teaching staff (special educators and title) their requests will also go through their supervisor, the Director of Student Services.
All requests must be submitted at least two weeks prior to the course.
All requests must address one of the following priorities:
Trauma-Informed Schools
Proficiency-Based Education (This includes developing content knowledge.)
Personalized Learning
Multi Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)
Collaborative Skills
You are allowed to request up to $500 to cover the fees for conferences and workshops. This does not include reimbursement of actual and reasonable costs of attending the event.
You can only ask for reimbursements for related expenses when attending conferences and workshops. You will have to complete and submit paper a reimbursement/pre-approval form with estimated costs to your building principal for pre-approval. The form will be held at school until all receipts and certificate of attendance are attached. Then your principal will forward the reimbursement request to the business office.
You may ask for payment for courses up to the in-state UVM Winter rate. The limit of this payment is less than or equal to the in-state UVM Winter rates.
You may request prepayment for courses. Your district or SU will consider this prepayment a loan. If you drop the course or fail to get a B or pass the class you will be required to pay back the loan to the district.
You must submit a grade reports showing that you earned a minimum of a B or a “pass”. If the class was prepaid you must submit a grade report within 60 days of the completion of the course or you will be billed for the cost of the course.
Requests for prepayment must be submitted to your principal two weeks prior to the beginning of the course. Under unusual circumstances, your principal may choose to waive this requirement.
Your building principal and supervisor will only approve courses or workshops related to your Professional Effectiveness Plan, School Continuous Improvement Plan, or Supervisory Union Initiatives

If your district or the supervisory union has money remaining in its pool you may request reimbursement of up to cost of three additional UVM credits at the instate winter rate. You must inform the business office between April 1 and June 5 if you want to apply for this reimbursement. Reimbursements will be decided on equally dividing up the remaining pool money among the requesters.
