Mr. Test is the director of all bands at Toms River HS South, and teaches all levels of Music Theory as well as general music courses. He is a proud Indian alumnus (class of 1990) who was fortunate enough to march the world's two largest parades (Tournament of Roses, 1988 and Cotton Bowl, 1990) while a member of the Marching Indian Band. He attended Trenton State College (now The College of New Jersey), majoring in music education, with a minor in Computer Science. In his senior year, he won the Delta Omicron International Student Composition Competition for his brass quartet, "Sea Shanty and Variations." He was graduated in 1994 with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education, and a minor in Computer Science. He holds his Master of Arts in Music Education from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, class of 2007.
His teaching career began in the summer of 2001 at St. Thomas Aquinas HS in Edison, NJ. Originally teaching choral music, AP computer science, and serving as marching band assistant director, he became full music director (all bands and choirs) in 2003.
Mr. Test filled the assistant band director position at South in the summer of 2007, working with Mrs. Jill Milkovitz-Lovinfosse. He became head director in the summer of 2010, and has been the sole director since the 2021 school year began.
In his spare time, Mr. Test enjoys spending time with his family, doing many outdoor sports and activities, volunteering as a leader in Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA, composing new music, and playing video games.
