Strength, Conditioning, Injury prevention

Our college netball purpose is to provide an environment where our players are both playing and loving their netball as well as creating a culture of excellence to assist each player to reach their potential.  As part of this, we run netball strength and conditioning sessions throughout the year for our Years 9-13 students. We focus on developing the players skills to understand what is needed to be strong and fit for netball. The focus is on developing a strong core including the posterior chain and gluts so as to enhance balance, turning and agility. There is a focus on strong chest and arms for passing and coordination. Aerobically fit players are able to make better decisions on the court. We train the aerobic and anaerobic systems.

We endorse the NetballNZ recommendations on warm-ups, training and cool-downs. We use Netball South's experts through player sessions and coach workshops to help develop both the players and coaches skills to reduce the risk of injury.

We test their fitness using ideas from Netball NZ and we do this three times in a season to help them develop motivation to be fitter.

During 2024, netball conditioning is a Tuesday night at the school from 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm.
