Y7 and 8 netball

Netball in the intermediate years is about balance and enjoyment.

This is the time to really focus on the fundamental skills of netball and develop well-rounded play.

We don't deny that winning feels great but our philosophy is to honour Netball NZ's junior policy which includes equal game time and rotation of positions during these years. This is particularly so in Year 7 and as they move through into Year 8, there may be some consolidation of a player preferring attack, defence or midcourt.

At all times, equal game play is expected unless a player is unwell or does not attend any practices for reasons that are within their control.

Having fun is particularly important as we want our players to continue with this sport into their high school years. Please check out the skills and drills pages where there are specific activities for this level of netball.

We expect our students to begin their trainings and games warm ups with this routine. Ideally the captain will lead it and they will learn to be efficient and understand why they are doing it.
