Trevor Day School has a uniquely strong and interconnected community. Such strong relationships and connections are an outstanding foundation for a Distance Learning Plan such as TrevorLINK.
During the time that we utilize the TrevorLINK plan, our faculty will partner with families at all grade levels to engage students in learning experiences that not only advance the Trevor curriculum, but that also stretch students’ capacities for inquiry and intellectual growth. Teachers will continue to play their instrumental roles of guiding, supporting, and challenging students to synthesize knowledge toward long-term academic growth, as they embrace this approach to learning.
Academic teachers and specialists will work with students primarily using three platforms: the Portal, Zoom, and Google Suite. Teachers may also employ additional online tools appropriate to their content and subject—ensuring that students are engaged in rich learning experiences. As new tools are introduced, teachers and tech support staff will work to ensure that parents and students are well supported. All academic teachers, specialists, administration, and support teams will continue to communicate with parents through email, the pushpage system, and the Portal.
TrevorLINK (Trevor’s Distance Learning Plan) is designed to support several goals:
Engaging students: Trevor teachers will continue to engage students in their academic program, during the time they must be away from the school building.
Creating and following routines: It is important for students to follow daily routines. The fact that we aren’t meeting in person should not be perceived as a break. Learning can and will continue on a daily basis.
Maintaining relationships: Students will continue to see and hear their teachers and advisors; they will also see their peers and hear their opinions and feedback. The class will feel intact.
Providing necessary support: The TrevorLINK plan is designed so that counselors, learning specialists, and technology integrators can all provide timely support to students, families, and teachers. This will provide continuity in student learning and optimal well-being for the Trevor community.
Teachers and students will maintain staggered communication through school email and the Portal during normal school hours.
