Middle and Upper School students should plan to "attend" classes per their Portal schedule.
Notes:
Students are required to submit their work via the Portal.
Students are required to connect to their classes via Zoom.
Links will be provided by each teacher.
Students must check their email to ensure they have the links to the meetings.
Students will have a once-per-cycle check-in with their advisors via Zoom.
Advisors will provide links.
It is important to continue daily Physical Education. We encourage students and parents to explore ways to support students’ physical activity at home or outside, if safe.
Each school day should be considered a "normal" school day with respect to the schedule of classes.
Students will log in to the Portal and go to the appropriate class page to find the link for their next online class.
Every academic and art class will begin with a Zoom meeting so that the teacher can connect with students, explain the plan for that day's lesson, and record attendance in the Portal. If any teachers need to start class or take attendance in a different way, they will let you know.
There will be a variety of class formats utilized. Class time will follow one or more of the following:
A "regular" full period live class with teacher-student interaction via Zoom.
Meet for 15-30 minutes on Zoom, followed by some independent work.
Breakout sections where teams of students work together—the teacher might be interacting with one group while another works offline (after attendance is taken).
Asynchronous (staggered) work for the students to complete offline (after attendance is taken).
Students will submit work based on the due dates on the Portal.
Discretionary periods are theirs to use as students see fit. Teachers might have "office hours" of which students can take advantage; students might have homework; or students might need to take a break or have a snack.
Physical Education
Students will participate in physical activity for one hour each day and log their activites.
Students will be guided by the activities at darebee.com. Here is a short video showing how to use the darebee site.
Middle School Students will follow this plan.
Upper School Students will follow this plan.
Students will log their progress in the form provided on the Portal in their PE class.
Each advisor will hold a Zoom meeting with each advisee individually, once per cycle.
The timing of the meetings will be the same as previously, unless the advisor and student agree to a new time.
Advisee group meetings will be held periodically and will be announced in advance via email.
Using Zoom, students will meet with their Learning Specialist according to the schedule previously developed during the school year (and posted on the Portal).
Note:
Zoom allows students to present which means they can share their screen to show work on their computer.
Feedback will be provided on the Portal, as usual. Students should check the Portal daily.
Using Zoom, advisors will meet with each advisee once per cycle. As usual, the advisor will work with the advisee, using class feedback to help guide the student's learning.
