Each homeroom’s daily agenda will be updated on the Portal no later than 8:00 pm each evening before the next school day, and will contain the day’s activities. These will be a mix of different assignments and suggested activities, as well as invitations to Zoom meetings for the class, small groups, and individual students. Please log in to the Portal and click "Daily Activities" to see the current links.
While we are offering a full day’s worth of classes, we do not expect that all students will be sitting at the computer for the entire time. In the interest of giving some semblance of routine, we are hoping that, at the assigned starting times on the agenda, students will begin each assignment. They will watch the introduction, instructions, or online resource and then work independently (or with a parent) on the activity. When they are finished, if they have extra time, they may do something active or social at home.
Teachers will hold one or two Zoom meetings with the entire class each day, so that they can check in on the day’s activities, answer questions, and help students maintain a sense of community. They will also hold an individual or small group check-in with every student at a different time each day. These times will be listed in the agenda, as well as sent through Zoom email invites.
Teachers are available through Zoom or email at the assigned class times, so students can ask questions or make comments. Because we are flexible with these meetings’ timing, if a student can’t make the given time, we can easily schedule a new time for them to connect with their teacher.
Should you and/or your child have any tech needs (such as the use of a computer or wifi connectivity), Trevor is committed to supporting you. Please email our Tech Department directly and we will provide a solution.
This guide will help you with installing and accessing your child's accounts for remote learning, such as Zoom, Seesaw and Google Drive.
Although our PE teachers will be providing PE activities to each grade three times a week, it is important to be active every day; we encourage students and parents to explore ways to support students’ physical activity at home, or, if safe, outside.
Trevor’s Lower School is offering a distance learning program that generally recreates each student’s daily routine, while still remaining flexible for each family’s household situation. Through our distance learning platform, located on the Portal, each student can log in to their teacher’s classroom page on a daily basis, and view the daily agenda for their homeroom.
The times listed on students' daily agendas have been structured to mirror a student’s typical school day, but students can do most of them at any time. We have chosen this format because:
It best supports our children’s age range.
It supports those parents who need to be present for our younger students.
It allows for the unknown—such as an ill family member, or a computer that has lost its charge.
It gives families some choice in how distance learning will work for them, based on their current household situation.
That said, we do want our students to maintain community ties during this time, both with their teachers and their classmates. As such, the only set times we ask students to be available are for Zoom meetings, which are outlined in the Daily Expectations section.
