Globalization means different things in different contexts. According to GALA, “Globalization, in the context of the language industry, refers to a broad range of processes necessary to prepare and launch products and activities internationally. Globalization [...] applies to activities such as multilingual communication, global-readiness of products and services, and processes and policies related to international trade, commerce, education, and more.”
In the context of macroeconomics, “Globalization is the spread of products, technology, information, and jobs across national borders and cultures[...]" in Investopedia.com
In the context of Translation Commons, Globalization is an effort to take our services to parts of the world where they are lacking and work together with local people who are on the ground to help us find which needs exist in their cities and how TC can help meet those needs.
Translation Commons' mission is to share knowledge, sustain cultures and create economic opportunities through the power of language.
The TC Globalization Group mission is to reach and help locales where these fundamental linguistic and cultural needs and opportunities aren't being met, and help create them.
