Taiping Elementary School has already been established for one hundred years. We evaluate the characteristics of teachers, students and the community, and we integrate the bilingual education programs into some of our curriculum courses, which emphasize interdisciplinary learning and link the life experience of school children. We expect to become a school with an international perspective.
We established , in the year 106, an English Immersion Program, We focus on merging interdisciplinary learning with our integrative activities. For example: our English singing competition, school uniform election, riddles for Chinese lantern festival, the creative parade and dramas at our school fair, guide dog introduction, and English life classes at McDonalds and the Supermarket. This helps motivate school interest in English learning.
English professional teachers who teach first graders Life Curriculum, Physical Education, and Integrated Activities in English. With our partner schools, we prepare the class together to improve the teaching quality by all teachers and we also have CLIL workshops.
Participating with the Teacher Development Institution’s programs, we will, in the future, integrate English into math and science classes as well. This is to offer the students a more broad and fulfilling learning environment. They can participate in contests and teaching activities to learn both English language and subject content. We aspire for the students to make meaningful connections between bilingual learning and the greater world.
