Message from Steve Harding
Many of us were present at the recent talk from Marys Meals and I know that some people picked up the collection boxes to put their loose change in.
I am happy to collect your boxes and collate a donation to Marys Meals on behalf of the Club, say at the end of this Rotary year. In order to benefit from Gift Aid, donations may have to be identified separately but covered by one total payment amount.
Keep the box in a visible place in your home and encourage your friends, family and neighbours to get rid of that loose change and benefit a worthy cause.
Steve Harding. Foundation and International.
On 14th March UKRAINE HERE WE COME! -
The Rotary Club of Towcester Foundation and International committee presented a cheque to the Steve Challen Ukraine Ambulance Fund to help with the fuel costs on the next trip to the Ukraine. Steve has obtained another ambulance which has been fully checked out and ready to go with supplies for the Ukrainians affected by the war. The ambulance will be packed with medical equipment which is badly needed in this war torn country.
Well done again Steve.
Here is President Paul presenting the cheque to Steve. Another example of Rotary at Work. The monies have been raised by the generosity of the townsfolk of Towcester through events organised by the Rotary Club.

MANY HANDS MAKE LIGHT WORK
21 Rotary Clubs from District 1070 (including Towcester) have contributed to helping build an IT suite for the children of Agona Swedru, Ghana. This is an example of Rotary working together, helping to improve lives of children less fortunate in other parts of the world.

Subject: ShelterBox - Thank you
Reply-To: Your Supporter Care Team <Hello@shelterbox.org>
Dear Rotarians,
Thank you to everybody at The Rotary club of Towcester for your club’s recent kind donation of £2,000.00.
We are extremely grateful for your club’s contribution to assist people in our responses across the world.
ShelterBox is responding in Morocco, supporting thousands of people left homeless by the earthquake. We’re working hard to get tents, thermal blankets, solar lights, and kitchen sets to communities without adequate shelter in mountain villages. Our deployed team had meetings with Rotary in Marrakesh and other local organisations that Rotary have helped connect them with. The Rotary network has also provided invaluable introductions and connections to the local community and local authorities.
ShelterBox is also responding in Libya, supporting people whose homes have been severely damaged or washed away by flood waters. The Regional Director at ShelterBox, Haroon Altaf says: “…People are displaced across northeast Libya, mostly from the city of Derna. Many are gathered in school buildings because they no longer have a home to go back to and they are likely to be there for some time.”
Thank you again and please do share this email at your next meeting and let your ShelterBox District Coordinator and/or International Chair know of your support.
With warm wishes,
Fiona Turner and John Cleverley - Rotary Engagement Team

OCTOBER IS ROTARY POLIO MONTH - Since 1985, Rotary’s key humanitarian priority has been to rid the world of polio. Polio is a virus which affects children under five and causes paralysis and even death. Rotary spearheaded the campaign at a time when there were over 1,000 cases a day in 125 countries.
Over the last 35 years, Rotary members, working with communities around the world, have contributed more than US$2.1 billion and countless volunteer hours to the fight to end polio.
Because of the efforts of Rotary and our partners, nearly 19 million people who would otherwise have been paralysed are walking, and more than 1.5 million people are alive who would otherwise have died.
Rotary members in Great Britain and Ireland have been huge supporters of End Polio Now and you can be part of making history. Get involved today, For more information contact the Rotary Club of Towcester. Send an email to secretary@towcester-rotary.org.uk.
