Our goal is to meet the intellectual, academic, and social-emotional needs of our gifted and advanced learners by providing more depth, more complexity, and independent study beyond the regular curriculum. Advanced academics serves students by providing a relevant and deeper understanding of the world around us. We strive to motivate our students to become lifelong learners and leaders.

I find joy in learning and teaching! This is my 18th year in education and my 5th year here at RES as a GT Specialist. I earned my bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in Middle School Math Education with a Minor in Physical Science from the University of Texas Pan American, which has been renamed as University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. I am certified as a Math teacher, in English as a Second Language, and in Gifted and Talented. I am a native Spanish speaker; English was my second language. I love to tell my students that I also speak the universal language of the world... MATH!
I have four amazing kids. Kaily is my Aggie married to another Aggie, and has made me a grandmother to three lil' boys!. She studied health science. Ezequiel is my Chemist; he graduated from SJU at Minnesota in 2021. Faith just graduated from Yale last May with a molecular bio-physics - bio-chemistry major. Charlize is my sweet and sassy 4th grader who loves to sketch. My better half is Ricardo; he has the greatest heart and the best impromptu dad jokes ever!
Other accomplishments and fun facts: I am a Latinos for Education Teacher Fellow and an Aspiring Latino Leaders Fellow. In 2018, I was a recipient of the Kinder Excellence in Teaching Award. I was in band since middle school; I played the clarinet.
Joining the RES and TISD team and family has been a blessing! I look forward to continue to work with all my students and families.
