O, how the boughs they sway
in a beautiful death they whisper a cry
the leaves of Fall, fall and decay
The skin of the trees is peeling away
leaving patterns of scars that catch the eye
O, how the boughs they sway
The color of eve amongst the gray
a contrast as bold as fire in the sky
the leaves of Fall, fall and decay
The creatures of the forest are unable to stay
the squirrels scurry, the birds fly
O, how the boughs they sway
The leaves on the ground are led astray
they flutter as the wind passes by
the leaves of Fall, fall and decay
The trees stand together in an infinite array
how can it be so lovely to watch something die?
O, how the boughs they sway
the leaves of Fall, fall and decay
